Learn to Race Programs

WSC offers two excellent racing skill improvement programs to its members:

  • Junior Sailing
  • Women in Wind

Junior Sailing
  • 2010 Junior Sailing Program

    May 18, 2010 - Junior Sailing season has arrived!

    For 2010, the WSC is teaming up with the Alberta Sailing Association and their northern racing coach, Heather Myatt, to provide a Junior Sailing program that will teach our younger members the basics of sailboat racing while getting them actively involved in building up the Alberta Optimist sailors fleet.

    • There will be two Junior Sailing sessions this summer held on the following Saturdays:
      • Session #1
        • May 22
        • Jun 5 (Wabamun Open regatta!)
        • Jun 19
        • Jul 3
        • Jul 24
      • Session #2
        • Jul 31
        • Aug 7
        • Aug 21
        • Aug 28
        • Sep 18(tentative)
    • Two "Sail Camps" will be run each Saturday:
      • 9am - 12:30pm - Beginner Camp (< 1 year sailing experience)
      • 1pm - 4:30pm - Intermediate Camp (1+ year sailing experience)
    • Each sailor for each session will be required to bring a $48 participation deposit on the first day
      • This deposit will be reimbursed by the Wabamun Sailing Club on the last day of each session, if:
        • The student attends 4 of 5 camps in the session
        • Parents participate in at least one Saturday Camp as "shore support" for the coach
