about the volunteer involvement at our club.
Comments about the Regatta
Warren Nethercote:
I was a member of the protest committee
and an RRS 42 judge for the Echo course at
the 2006 CYA Youth Championships, at the
Wabamun SC. The venue was a family oriented
club on a lake more than large enough to
run several courses without interference, and the Club provided ample resources and volunteers for the
task at hand. A measure of their commitment was the decision to clear the club dinghy park of all members?
boats, to provide amply space for the regatta. The level of volunteer support was almost unique in my experience
? I have only seen similar levels of volunteer participation at the 2002 Volvo Youth Worlds in Lunenburg ? coincidently a Kingston Trophy winner.
On the shore side, it is also laudable how the club managed, after discovery that a number of competitors had arrived at the site carrying a contagious gastrointestinal bug, by successfully instituting strict but non-intrusive public health measures to avoid spreading the problem.
Tim Hornett (Parent of competitor and recorder on the finish boat):
First of all I wanted to congratulate you on what I think was the best run and organized Race committee I
have ever had the pleasure to serve on last week. Well done!
Holly van Schoor (Parent of competitor)
We're very impressed with your website -- it's user friendly, up-to-date and easy to navigate. In particular,
the Youth Nationals section with up-to-date results and photos is remarkable. A hard copy of regatta results
are sometimes hard to come by so we particularly appreciate your efforts. Bravo!
Mark Lammens (Coach)
Thanks for a great event, the team really enjoyed themselves and
the regatta went very, very well. A credit to your RM team and
club.
