Membership Types

May 1, 2005 - The Wabamun Sailing Club offers the following types of membership:
- Active - A voting member who has reached the age of eighteen and is the owner, co-owner or renter of a sailboat, and has paid the entrance fee required. The entrance fee and the annual membership fee of a member in this category includes his/her spouse and children under the age of 19.
- Student - A member who is in full time attendance at school and under the age of 29. This member may not vote and need not pay the entrance fee.
- Crewing - A member who is not the owner, co-owner or renter of a sailboat and who has an interest and participates in boating or sailing activities. This member may not vote and need not pay the entrance fee.
- Honourary - A member is voted this type of membership on a year-to year basis by the executive, and granted such privileges as deemed appropriate. The privileges do not include the right to vote or hold office.
- Associate - A member who has been an active or crewing member of the club for at least one year and who resides a distance in excess of 100 miles from Edmonton. While an associate, a member does not have voting privileges. An associate membership may be granted at the discretion of the executive for other reasons.
- Social - A member who does not fall into any of the other categories but who is interested in the social activities and general welfare of the club. This member may not vote and need not pay the entrance fee.
- Honourary Life - A member who has shown outstanding interest in the club for a period of fifteen or more years and is recommended by the Executive Committee for election to this classification. The election must take place at the Annual General Meeting and be passed by a majority of at least three quarters of voting members attending. An honourary life member is exempt from the payment of any fees and assessments and has voting privileges.
